Willem Beltman's feeding fences were in dire need of replacement after 30 years. “I thought I had trapped a cow, I turned around and was able to chase it again! My welding machine had become indispensable.”
He chose DSD because we could carry out all his renovation wishes ourselves. “It is very nice that you poured the concrete for the walls yourself. Then you don't have to wait for different parties and coordinate everything."
The plan we had determined was to move the feeding fence 50cm and thus create a feeding sidewalk behind the feeding fence. “I thought, will a sidewalk like that really make that much of a difference? But you see that the manure scraper is much less stationary, because the cows only have to lift their hind legs to let the manure scraper pass. This makes a big difference, especially in busy places such as concentrate stations.” We have also replaced the drinking water supply from low pressure to high pressure. “You immediately see that the water is nice and clean and fresh with this system.”
Willem is also very pleased with the editing. “Everything went very smoothly and the work was done very neatly. The mechanics who came by were very good, hard-working guys.”
Willem has opted for English self-closing feeding barriers for his dairy cattle and diagonal feeding barriers for his young cattle.
DSD has provided a stable layout that is pleasant for the cow and simple and convenient to use for Willem, through the right combination of fencing, gates and locks.
